How do I apply for a job?

What is the interview process like?

After you apply, the school leadership team at the location you select will reach out to you directly. They will schedule an in-person interview with you to tour the school, share the highlights of working with us, answer your questions, and meet other teaching staff.

Is a background check required as part of my application?

Before working at Kinderberry Hill, you must pass a background study through the Department of Human Services. If you are extended an offer, the background check will take place on or before your first day of employment.

Does Kinderberry Hill offer benefits?

Kinderberry Hill offers a plethora of benefits to our eligible employees including company-sponsored health, vision, and dental insurance. We also offer short- and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending accounts, and 401K with an employer match.

 

Kinderberry Hill recognizes the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We are closed the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve. These days are paid, in addition to the traditional holidays observed.

 

We also offer our employees ample opportunities to continue their education. These include free scholarships for Child Development Associate (CDA) certifications and two-year Early Childhood Education (ECE) degree programs. We also offer tuition reimbursement for ECE degrees, including bachelor’s and advanced degree programs.

What training does Kinderberry Hill offer to its employees?

Kinderberry Hill offers ample professional development opportunities to our staff. This includes relevant, high-quality, and FREE continued early childhood education. These opportunities are available both online and in person.

In a calendar year, Kinderberry Hill hosts 2 late starts and 2 full days of professional development. We also provide ample opportunities for team building and collaboration.

What is the culture and work environment at Kinderberry Hill?

For over 30 years, Kinderberry Hill has been dedicated to providing children, families, and employees with exceptional early childhood experience. At Kinderberry Hill, we use an innovative and unique approach to childcare through the Reggio Emilia approach. As Reggio-inspired schools, we view children as competent, capable, and rich with ideas. Children observe, investigate, and explore the world around them through play in our state-of-the-art classrooms. Kinderberry Hill also offers Nature Explore Certified Outdoor Classrooms which allow children to have safe, ready-made access to green places and engagement with nature. Our outdoor classrooms offer opportunities for exploration, discovery, collaboration, and wonder.

 

Our classrooms are filled with unique and beautiful items offering children and staff a beautiful place to learn and grow. Ample supplies, materials, teaching tools, and enhancements are provided at the expense of Kinderberry Hill.  Our teachers do not supplement the curriculum at their own expense.

 

Our Kinderberry Hill teachers are valued members of our school community. We strive to ensure everyone has a voice and is a valued contributor to our school.

 

A merit adjustment occurs annually and as an employee, you control the percentage based on your overall performance. Length of service and teacher referral bonuses are offered.

What is a typical day like at Kinderberry Hill?

Unique to Kinderberry Hill, we offer a 4-day, 10-hours-per-day work week as a primary schedule. This type of schedule and consistency creates strong bonds and relationships with children in your care, their families, and your co-teachers.

Most of our positions are full-time (40 hours per week). Part-time positions are available at many locations depending on their scheduling needs.

Our daily classroom schedules allow ample opportunities for children to learn, grow, and explore through hands-on play experiences.





Our History

2020

  • Kinderberry Hill celebrates 30 years of caring for Twin Cities’ families.
  • Wonder Lab enrichment classes are introduced. These STEAM and Spanish classes spark curiosity and inspire exploration, giving children hands-on opportunities to engage with these subjects.
  • Conscious Discipline (copyright symbol) is introduced to leadership teams and classroom teachers. This evidence-based approach to behavior equips children, families, and educators with practical skills to create safe, connected, and supportive environments for young learners.
  • Schools become Breastfeeding Friendly Workplaces through the State of Minnesota.

2010

  • Kinderberry Hill’s outdoor spaces proudly earn Nature Explore outdoor classroom certifications, providing children with enriching environments for learning and growth.
  • An exciting new chapter and journey into the Reggio Emilia approach to early childhood education begins.
  • 2008 – Kinderberry Hill opens a sixth location in Eden Prairie to care for Southwest metro children. This beautiful facility features a sun-filled atrium, large muscle space, state-of-the-art security, and a unique, nature-inspired outdoor climbing structure.
  • 2005 – A state-of-the-art building opens in Woodbury, combining the 3M Campus with other east metro area families seeking a top quality child care program.

2000

  • The Minneapolis location opens. This unique school, situated in a high-rise building in the heart of downtown, caters to downtown working professionals. Its many unique features include convenient Skyway access and a one-of-a-kind root-top terrace playground.
  • NAEYC accreditation is achieved.  The process includes a detailed review of teaching practices, safety, curriculum, and family engagement to ensure quality care and learning for young children. All schools meet the highest standards for early childhood education.
  • All schools receive 5 star ratings under Minnesota’s official quality rating system- Parent Aware. Parent Aware rates childcare and early education programs.

1990

Local family, William and Susan Dunkley, purchase the Roseville and Edina Kinderberry Hill locations. The Dunkleys, owners of New Horizon Academy since 1971 and very active in early education legislated the quality evident in Kinderberry Hill’s programs.
